班級是class，主任是director，“班主任”不是class director！

一般只有在中小學才有“班主任”這一稱呼，并且在英文里沒有“班主任”這個詞對應的稱呼，此時只能采用意譯。

（一）、a teacher in charge of a class

班主任是負責一個班級的老師，所以，班主任可以翻譯為：a teacher in charge of a class，這也是小V認為地最準確的翻譯。

Mini V’s girlfriend is the teacher in charge of the class.

小V的女朋友是這班的班主任。

（二）、head teacher

班主任是一個班的老大，所以“班主任”又可以翻譯成：the head-teacher of the class。因為這個詞條太長了，所以我們把它縮寫成head teacher。

特別需要注意的是，head teacher 在英國是中小學的校長的意思，所以為了把“班主任”和“校長”區(qū)分開來，建議寫成class head teacher。

那個站在遠處的年輕女士是小V（VOA英語城）的班主任。

（三）、class adviser

班主任一般會給這個班的同學們指點迷津，給出建設性的建議等。同學們有什么困難也可以向班主任訴說，所以，班主任也一個類似于顧問的角色。所以，班主任還可以翻譯成：a class adviser。

The boy told Mini V he was afraid of his class adviser.

這個小男孩跟小V說他害怕他的班主任。

（四）、form teacher

班主任在英式英語里，還有一個表達，那就是form teacher（字面意思是形式老師）。Form teacher一般專職的，是不授課的，但我們的班主任一般是要教語文，數(shù)學等科目的。

Mini V heard on the grapevine that the new form teacher was very good at quieting the kids.

小V（VOA英語城）聽小道消息說這位新來的班主任很有辦法上孩子們安靜下來。

on the grapevine 指通過“非正式渠道得到的，小道的”意思。

小V總結：“班主任”有四種翻譯可供參考：1. a teacher in charge of a class，2. head teacher（the head-teacher of the class），3. class adviser，4. form teacher。

代是generation，課是class，老師是teacher，“代課老師”不是generation class teacher！

代替是replace，課是class，老師是teacher，“代課老師”不是replace class teacher！

代課老師可以翻譯為：substitute teacher，英文縮寫：SUB。

replace是動詞，指物時有新的換舊的，壞的換成好的，升級這樣的意思，指人時多指取代某一位置以作為替代者或繼承者。replace的名詞是replacement，譯為替換物。substitute的意思是“代替”且一般不比原物好。

小V我曾在不同學校做短期代課老師。

任課老師就是給學生們上課的老師，我們可以用英語直接說teacher，在英國還可以用class teacher來表示。
